Why God Takes His Time: Trusting the Long Journey to His Promise

God Moves at the Speed of Eternity, Not Urgency

God can move at the speed of light, but He rarely does.

Scripture repeatedly shows us that God’s timeline is often long, deliberate, and deeply personal.

  • It took 40 years for Israel to move from Egypt to Canaan.
  • The Israelites endured 70 years of captivity in Babylon.
  • And it’s been over 2,000 years since Jesus ascended, yet we’re still waiting for His return.

So why the delay? Because God isn’t just after results. He’s after transformation.

God Is More Interested in Who You’re Becoming

God placed certain dreams and callings in my heart over a decade ago. At the time, I thought they’d happen immediately, like yesterday. But now, nearly 10–11 years later, I’m only starting to see them unfold.

Why the wait?

Because He’s more interested in the person He’s making you into than the destination you’re trying to reach. The journey develops your character, your endurance, and your faith.

What If You’re in Year 10 of Waiting?

Some of you have been praying for healing, for breakthrough, for deliverance, and you’re in year 10 of asking. Maybe you’ve stopped believing. Maybe you’ve given up.

But hear this:

“Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?” – Isaiah 43:19

God says, “Wait, but for a while longer.” Not because He’s forgotten you, but because He’s restoring everything in a way only He can.

Get on God’s Timeline

God’s clock isn’t broken. It’s eternal. And He’s inviting you to get on His timeline and trust His process.

“I will restore to you the years that the locusts have eaten… You will eat in plenty and be satisfied.” – Joel 2:25–26

That’s a promise from the Living God, and His promises don’t expire. They mature.

Don’t Give Up—Wait With Expectation

Don’t give up. Don’t give in. Wait, not passively, but expectantly. Because God is not just working for you, He’s working in you. He’s crafting something beautiful out of the long road. And when His promise finally comes, it won’t just be what you asked for. It will be more.
