Sacrifice — The Cost of Love
Christmas and sacrifice are deeply connected.
Behind every light, every carol, every manger scene, there is a quiet, holy surrender.
Jesus gave up the glory of heaven to walk among us. He left perfection to enter our pain. He traded the throne for a feeding trough and the praise of angels for the cries of newborn lungs.
That’s what love does. It costs something. It doesn’t cling to comfort; it gives for the sake of others.
When we think of Christmas, we often imagine coziness, but the first Christmas wasn’t comfortable. It was cold, uncertain, humble, and sacrificial. Yet through it, salvation entered the world.
Every act of real love still carries that same DNA. It gives. It bends. It lays something down.
So when you think of Christmas, don’t just see a baby in a manger. See the Savior who chose to come low so we could rise high. Because real love always involves sacrifice.
Reflection
What comfort might God be asking you to lay down this season so that someone else can experience His love?
